    Privacy Policy

    Last updated: August 1, 2026

Upper Room NYC — A Messianic Synagogue ("Upper Room NYC," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through upperroom.nyc, our forms, our giving platforms, and our communications; how we use and protect it; and the choices you have. By using this website you agree to the practices described below.

    Information We Collect

Information you give us. When you contact us, fill out our first-time visitor form, request prayer, register for an event, join a class, volunteer, or give, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, the content of your message or prayer request, and any other details you choose to share.

Giving information. Donations are processed by third-party providers (such as Tithe.ly, Zelle, and text-to-give services). Payment card and bank account details are collected and stored by those processors, not by us. We receive only transaction records such as amount, date, designation, and donor name and contact details for receipting and acknowledgment purposes.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we automatically receive technical data such as IP address, browser type, device type, referring pages, pages viewed, and time spent. We use cookies and similar technologies (including Google Tag Manager and analytics tools) to understand how the site is used. See "Cookies and Tracking" below.

Media at gatherings. Our Shabbat gatherings and events are sometimes livestreamed, recorded, or photographed. By attending you may appear in photos or video that we publish on our website, YouTube channel, or social media. If you would prefer not to appear, please let a member of our team know.

    How We Use Your Information

    • Welcome and follow up with first-time guests
    • Send ministry updates, gathering information, event invitations, and newsletters

    • Process and acknowledge donations and issue year-end giving statements
    • Coordinate volunteers, classes, membership, and pastoral care
    • Maintain, secure, and improve our website and communications
    • Comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

    Consent to Be Contacted

When you submit a form on this site, you may be asked to check a box consenting to be contacted by Upper Room NYC by email, phone, or text message regarding your inquiry and our ministry. Consent is not a condition of any purchase or donation. Message and data rates may apply for text messages. You may withdraw consent at any time by replying STOP to a text, using the unsubscribe link in any email, or emailing info@upperroom.nyc.

    Cookies and Tracking

Cookies are small text files placed on your device. We use strictly necessary cookies to operate the site, and analytics and marketing cookies (for example Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, and embedded YouTube and Google Maps content) to understand traffic and improve our ministry communications. When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies; your choice is stored locally in your browser and you can change it at any time by clearing your browser storage. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work as intended.

Embedded content from third parties (YouTube, Google Maps, Tithe.ly) is governed by those providers' own privacy policies.

    How We Share Information

We share personal information only in limited circumstances:

    • With trusted service providers who help us operate our ministry — website and database hosting, email and text messaging platforms, donation processors, and analytics providers — under obligations to protect your data
    • With our pastoral leadership and authorized volunteers for care and follow-up
    • When required by law, subpoena, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of our congregation

    Data Security and Retention

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the information we hold, including encrypted transmission and access-controlled databases. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described here or as required by law — giving records, for example, are retained to satisfy tax and accounting requirements.

    Your Choices and Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you, and you may opt out of our communications at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws. To make a request, email info@upperroom.nyc and we will respond within a reasonable time. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

    Children's Privacy

Our website is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 online without parental consent. Information about minors participating in our youth or children's ministries is provided by a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided us information online, contact us and we will delete it.

    Links to Other Sites

Our site links to other organizations and platforms we partner with. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites, and we encourage you to review their policies.

    Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The revised version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date, and material changes will be communicated where appropriate. Your continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
