Upper Room NYC is a Modern Messianic Synagogue in the heart of Manhattan. We are a community of Jewish people and people from the nations who believe that Yeshua — the Hebrew name of Jesus — is the promised Messiah of Israel. Our Shabbat gatherings hold together two things that are often kept apart: modern worship anthems and the ancient rhythms of Jewish prayer, Torah reading, and the feasts of the Lord.

If you are new to Messianic Judaism, the questions below cover the ones we hear most often — what we believe, what actually happens in a gathering, how we relate to Jewish tradition, and the practical details of visiting us at 250 E 61st St. We gather on Friday evenings at 7:00 PM and Saturday mornings at 11:00 AM, and midweek for Bible study, prayer, and fellowship throughout the week.

Every week our teaching follows the weekly Torah portion alongside the writings of the Apostles, read through the lens of the Messiah. You will hear Hebrew, and you will hear it explained in English — nothing is left untranslated or assumed. Newcomers are guided through the liturgy rather than expected to keep up with it, so you can participate as much or as little as you are comfortable with on your first visit.

You do not need to be Jewish to attend, and you do not need to have your beliefs sorted out before you walk through the door. Skeptics, seekers, lifelong believers, and visitors from churches across New York City all worship with us on Shabbat.
